The first Ilyushin IL-62 of the Herpa Wings collection comes with the livery of the former East German airline Interflug. Strictly speaking, the aircraft type is a Soviet copy of the British Vickers VC-10. Interflug launched its first IL-62 in 1962. The original of our model carries the registration DDR-SEP, and was an advanced version IL-62M. It was introduced in 1984, being the seventh of a total of thirteen planes of its type purchased between 1978 and 1987. The Registration was changed to DDR-SEZ The Bottom Stripe of the DDR flag was changed to the color of gold.
